Tropical, with a rainy season from May to November and a dry season from December to April.

The Panama Canal, tropical rainforests, idyllic islands and beaches, indigenous cultures, Casco Viejo (a UNESCO world heritage site) and cosmopolitan Panama City.

Panama has a tropical climate with pretty distinct wet and dry seasons.

  • The dry season runs from mid-December to mid-April and is considered the peak season for tourism here. You can expect sunny days with little to no rainfall, making it ideal for outdoor activities!
  • The wet season, from mid-April to mid-December, brings more frequent rainfall and higher humidity. Don’t let this deter you, however! The rain brings a luscious & green rainforest, as well as high water levels in rivers & waterfalls. Hello, waterfall chasing & river rafting!
  • Keep in mind that some areas of Panama, such as the Caribbean coast and the San Blas Islands, experience a microclimate with rainfall year-round. The Pacific coast and the highlands have a more predictable dry and wet season.

Overall, the best time to visit Panama depends on your preferences, but the dry season is the most popular time to travel.
